The Musée du Center tariq Abdulhakim de Jeddah is joining in the nationwide celebration of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Foundation Day with a three-day extravaganza. Supervised by the Museum Commission, this vibrant event blends art and culture too showcase the kingdom’s rich heritage and reinforce national identity.
A Warm Welcome and a Vision for Cultural Preservation
The festivities commenced with a traditional Saudi coffee reception, featuring four distinct varieties, as per the Foundation Day directives. Tayeb Abdullh Altayeb, director of the Musée du Center Tariq Abdulhakim, emphasized the museum’s mission: “The idea is to celebrate our nation and its cultural components, which we reflect through the different offers of the museum. Our main objective is to preserve the musical heritage and the Saudi show arts.”
“Tariq Abdulhakim was himself a champion of culture. He supported the creation of the military fanfare and won a UNESCO prize for the preservation of Saudi identity.It is normal that, on the occasion of the Foundation Day, we underlined his efforts and that we align our cultural sector on the 2030 vision,” Mr.Altayeb added.
A museum official further explained, “We want to make sure everyone has access to the cultural aspects of Saudi Arabia, especially during the foundation day. Our mission is to be a low-cost activation center, offering programs for the public and children in order to educate them on our heritage and our traditions.”

The museum actively provides a platform for traditional groups, artists, and schools to showcase their talents. Its accessible spaces cater to all ages, including individuals with disabilities.
The opening day featured a captivating interactive artistic parade and an engaging artist workshop that merged crafts and live performances.A highlight was the traditional fashion promenade organized by Al-Mugasap, a renowned Saudi fashion brand. The exhibition presented traditional garments from various regions of the kingdom, offering visitors a glimpse into Saudi Arabia’s history and civilization.
Sari Salem Hariri, co-founder and managing director of al-Mugasap, shared, “We have selected traditional clothes from various regions of the kingdom. They were exposed in special boxes to highlight the beauty and elegance of their patterns, thus adding value to our cultural heritage.”
A Symphony of Heritage
Visitors were immersed in a world of tradition with dedicated sections for traditional food and crafts. Interactive games, enthralling live musical shows, and a school choir enthusiastically performing national songs added to the festive atmosphere, symbolizing the younger generation’s connection to Saudi heritage.
Traditional artists from across the kingdom, including a group from taif, of which Tariq Abdulhakim was a member, participated, contributing to the rich tapestry of the event. Khalid Jammali, group manager, commented to Arab News: “It is one of the biggest celebrations in saudi Arabia. We are hear to represent the Najd region, and Tariq Abdulhakim played a major role in the creation of this heritage. His ideas made it possible to raise the quality and standards of these shows.”
A Grand Finale and Lasting Impressions
The celebration will culminate with a concert on national heritage on February 23, featuring a captivating blend of traditional and modern national songs. This grand finale will unite artists and creators from various disciplines, bridging the past and the present while celebrating the kingdom’s rich history and its vision for the future.
Visitors expressed their appreciation for the event. Ghada Shehri shared, “The event was not only entertaining, but also deeply educational. I dressed my children in traditional Saudi clothes and they were delighted to see other people dressed in the same way. It was a wonderful prospect to make them discover our heritage and our culture in a fun and attractive way. The traditional fashion walk was a highlight for us. Seeing the different regional clothing styles, my children became aware of the diversity of our kingdom.”
salman Mohammed added, “The museum has done amazing work by presenting the Saudi heritage through music, food and art. My children were especially fascinated by the school choir show.It made me want to see them so committed and curious about our culture.”
Embracing Traditional Craftsmanship
Nawwaf al-Harbi, owner of Dokhan Ahjar Precious Metals and Gemstones, showcased the art of polishing precious stones from various regions of Saudi Arabia. “We polish these stones to build them in gold or silver, to highlight the beauty of the natural precious stones of mecca, Medina and elsewhere. Our goal is to introduce this traditional craft and we are committed to transmitting know-how to a large audience,” he explained.
