FC cincinnati has announced a meaningful long-term commitment to dynamic midfielder Luca Orellano,signing him to a contract extension through the 2029 season.
Orellano’s Electrifying Debut Season
This move follows the club’s exercise of the purchase option on Orellano’s loan from Brazilian Serie A side Vasco de Gama at the end of the 2024 season. The Argentine playmaker arrived in Cincinnati on loan in January 2024 and quickly made an impact, appearing in 42 matches across all competitions, second-most on the team.
Orellano’s impressive debut season saw him score 12 goals and provide seven assists, earning him recognition as an MLS All-Star and a finalist for the MLS Newcomer of the Year award. His stunning free kick goal against CF Montréal on August 31st, travelled 79.81 yards, the longest free kick goal in MLS sence tracking began in 2010, earned him the team’s MLS Goal of the Year and national acclaim.

AM: Speaking of outstanding performances, your goal against CF Montréal was a standout moment. Did you know it was going in?
LO: *laughs* No, not at all! I just saw the keeper was off his line, and I decided to have a go. It was an amazing feeling when it went in, and I’m glad it brought some joy to the fans.
