The updated sporting organization for the men’s team has a red thread where gaming idea, scouting and analysis are clearly interconnected. In the same way, the women’s team is far ahead with both a squad and the way of playing.”

He emphasizes the importance of a cohesive strategy: “As we form this way forward, we get a clear control over how we should work in the association. It is one of the key factors behind my desire to come here.”

A Veteran of Swedish Football

Jesper Jansson brings a wealth of experience to IFK Gothenburg, having served as both a player and leader in Swedish football. His playing career includes stints with Östers IF, AIK, Djurgården, and Helsingborgs IF. As a leader,he has held positions such as scouting manager at FC Copenhagen and sports manager at Omonia Nicosia,Hammarby IF,and Helsingborgs IF. His accolades include an SM gold with Helsingborg and cup gold with both Helsingborg and Hammarby.

You could say that I have outlined it in my head and waited for the right position. Now the situation came to me.”

He is eager to contribute his experience to the club’s existing foundation. “I am attracted by being able to join in and take a holistic approach to the strategies and our working methods. I see how I will be able to support and lead the organization with my experience and as a complement to very strong employees. What Hannes Stiller and Oscar Wendt and others have built up in a short time is remarkable and gives us a nice platform for the Allsvenskan. What Peter Svanström and his team aim to do in Division 1 is an important step in getting us up in Damallsvenskan. In addition, we point to everything with one of the country’s best academies. Upwards is the only way forward,” he added.

Club director Håkan Mild described the recruitment process as “a thorough recruitment process that started in November.” He emphasized the involvement of various stakeholders, including the former board, sporting officials, and management. “It is always said at the end of each recruitment that ‘we chose the best candidate’. We can really say that this time,not least with the anchor that exists around the decision. Jesper feels just right to us,” stated Mild.

Final Month with Östers IF

Jesper Jansson will remain with Östers IF for one more month before transitioning to IFK Gothenburg. “I will put all my focus on the east untill then. Then I look forward to starting up at Kamratgården.It feels very exciting,” he concluded.
