Mislata hosts the Clymact program in her commitment to more green and sustainable cities

Breaking: Mislata Joins European CLYMACT Project to Tackle Climate Change

Mislata, Spain — April 28, 2023 — The Mislata City Council has announced its participation as a partner in the European project “CLYMACT – Creation of local alliances of young people and municipalities for climate action.” This initiative aspires to promote collaboration between youth and local governments to address pressing environmental challenges. Within the framework of this project, Mislata hosted an international delegation this week, incorporating young people, technicians, and municipal representatives from Croatia, Greece, Italy, and Hungary, as well.

CLYMACT Project Highlights

CLYMACT aims to discuss the key environmental challenges faced by different territories, share best practices, and develop sustainable solutions. The program puts a particular emphasis on the leadership of the participating youth. Through CLYMACT, young people receive training in urban sustainability, collaborate with local administrations, and participate in international meetings, all subsidized by European funds.

The mayor of Mislata, Carlos F. Bielsa, along with Councilors Ximo Moreno and Nerea Gimeno, welcomed the delegation, expressing pride and excitement about the project’s impact. “We are proud to be part of this collaborative project and excited with the positive impact that CLYMACT will have in Mislata,” Bielsa stated. “This program reinforces our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and our active involvement in the fight against climate change.”

Addressing Key Environmental Issues

During their stay in Mislata, the delegation discussed sustainable mobility, innovative solutions, and alternative means of transport to reduce emissions, air pollution, and traffic congestion. Future meetings will focus on energy poverty, climate impact mitigation in urban environments, food waste, composting, and urban waste management.

Final Phase of the European OpenDBL Project

Additionally, the European project OpenDBL, in which Mislata serves as a pilot city, enters its final phase. Mislata, along with Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, and Romania, aspires to implement solutions that improve building maintenance and management sustainability. The La Fàbrica de Mislata sociocultural and sports center will serve as a European example for applying these new management techniques.

The delegation, led by Mayor Carlos F. Bielsa, recently attended the meeting in Ennepetal, Germany, to validate the project’s progress. After scanning the complex in 3D and equipping it with sensors, the center aims to become a sustainable management model for Europe.

This modern and efficient approach helps Mislata stand at the forefront of environmental action, making significant strides towards the 2030 Agenda and achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

The innovative and collaborative spirit of Mislata’s involvement in these European projects underlines the city’s commitment to a sustainable future. Keep visiting archyde.com for more breaking news and in-depth analysis on climate action initiatives around the world.
