San José – June 9, 2025 — The College of Dentist Surgeons of Costa Rica (CCDCR) is celebrating its 110th anniversary today, marking more than a century of leadership in dental health for Costa Ricans.

Over a Century of Service and Dedication

Founded in 1915, the CCDCR has been instrumental in shaping dental practice standards in the country. The entity is recognized as one of the oldest and most respected institutions in Costa Rica’s health field, dedicating itself to promoting high scientific, technical, and ethical standards in dentistry.

“This anniversary is more than an event; it is a recognition of the tireless work of thousands of professionals devoted to the population’s health,” stated Dr. Antonieta Muñoz Solís, President of the CCDCR, during the festive framework.

The CCDCR’s mission, from its inception, has been to regulate and enhance excellence in dental practice, contributing to the integral well-being of people. Through continuous education programs, supervision, and strategic alliances with both public and private institutions, the CCDCR aims to ensure accessible, high-quality oral health services.

Future Challenges and Commitments

Dr. Muñoz Solís highlighted the urgent need to prioritize oral health in national health policies. “Oral health is vital to people’s physical and emotional well-being, and yet it often receives insufficient attention,” she noted.

The anniversary celebrations will encompass a host of activities throughout June. Academic gatherings and “teeth lavatones” in educational centers are planned to engage younger generations and promote oral health awareness.

“We reaffirm our commitment to ethical, scientific dentistry and our dedication to Costa Rican society by continuing to educate our members and promoting health among young people from different regions of the country,” Dr. Muñoz concluded.

With over a century of dedication to advancing dental care in Costa Rica, the CCDCR continues to pave the way for professional growth and higher standards of oral health.
