Resumption After COVID-19 Hiatus

The Japan Quality Assurance Organization (JQA) has re-launched the “Cambodia Children’s Environmental Education” program in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, marking the first resumption in five years following the suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Collaborating with the Apsala Organization, the Siem Reap State Education Bureau, and Sophia University Asian Human Resources Training Research Center, the program is set to create a lasting impact on the next generation in this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Program Overview

The “Cambodia Children’s Environmental Education” initiative aims to offer environmental education to elementary school students in Siem Reap, aligning tourism with environmental conservation. The program incorporates the PDCA cycle, fundamental to ISO 14001, enabling children to recognize, face, and resolve local environmental challenges.

Commenced in 2018, the program began trials to integrate environmental education into the elementary school curriculum, underscoring the crucial role of environmental awareness in young minds.

Award Ceremony Recognizes Outstanding Efforts

An award ceremony held on May 29th, 2025, recognized groups of students who showed exceptional commitment. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Li Bunnah, Director of Education, Youth, and Sports in Siem Reap Province, who praised the program for equipping children with “life skills” and aligning with national education policies.

Ceremony Highlights

The event was widely covered by local media, including Television of Kampuchea (TVK), TV Siemreap, the Radio National of Kampuchea, the Apsara Organization, and the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Information.
