OLLI Expands Learning Opportunities for Adults 50+ in Nebraska

The Osher Lifelong Learning institute at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, or OLLI at UNL, is hosting two enticing events this summer.

An Omaha Showcase is scheduled for July 28,followed by a Lincoln Open House on August 8. Both events are free and open to the public, offering a marvelous opportunity to explore OLLI’s offerings.

Registration is required for both events and must be completed by July 21. These events are designed for adults aged 50 and over,providing enrichment and lifelong learning opportunities.

You can engage with staff and volunteers who will be ready to answer all your questions. They can provide details on membership, upcoming courses, interest groups, events, and exciting travel opportunities.

Attendees can also register for membership and collect a fall term catalog on-site. At the Omaha Showcase, you’ll even have the chance to sample a couple of OLLI classes.

The OLLI omaha Showcase will take place from 12:30 p.m.to 3:30 p.m.on July 28 at the Scott Conference Center, located at 6450 Pine St. in Omaha. Sample classes are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The Lincoln Open House is set for august 8, also from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the East Campus Union, 1705 Arbor Dr. in Lincoln. Feel free to drop in anytime during the scheduled hours.

for over three decades, OLLI has championed the pure joy of learning with noncredit courses. These courses come with no tests, no grades, and no homework, focusing solely on enrichment.

You can experience these classes in person, live on Zoom, or access recorded sessions online at your convenience. OLLI offers programming year-round, with courses available in both Omaha and Lincoln.

Membership is an annual $75, with course fees varying. A single-session class might cost $10, while a six-week course is $35.

OLLI also coordinates travel opportunities through its vendor, Star Destinations. These range from local explorations to international adventures.

Upcoming trips include “Visions of Nebraska” in fall 2025, Costa Rica in March 2026, and England and Wales in August 2026. More trips to New England and the Southwest are planned for October 2026.

OLLI at UNL is part of a larger national network of 124 lifelong learning institutes.This network is connected through the Bernard Osher Foundation and is supported by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Collage of Education and Human Sciences.
