Medellín Animal Shelter Faces Dilemma: Thousands Adopted, But Many Seniors Still Waiting
Medellín, Colombia – While teh Mayor’s office of Medellín celebrates a triumphant year with approximately 1,000 animals finding forever homes through its adoption program, a poignant reality persists within the city’s animal welfare efforts. The La Perla Animal Welfare Center, the largest of its kind in the country, is home to 2,672 animals, yet a important portion faces an extended wait for a family.
