On to the final of the Low Countries? Top favorite Netherlands beats – with difficulty – Spanish women at the European Championship
The first finalist at the European Hockey European Championship is known. Top favorite the Netherlands had more trouble than expected with a fiery Spain, but thanks to 3 goals from top scoring star Yibbi Jansen – 3 times on penalty corner – a difficult game was able to take on. This way our northern neighbors can defend their European title on Sunday. We know whether that will be against the Red Panthers or Germany later tonight.
Spain – that the Red Panthers Still had a draw in the group stage – started furiously and even took the lead after 5 minutes.
Afterwards the Spanish women remained dangerous. With stick and tooth they disturbed the Dutch structure, which did not get past a red-yellow wall. In the meantime, goalkeeper Perez also shook up some great reflexes.
In a quarter 2 it seemed to turn the first minutes on the same scenario, but thanks to the brilliant Yibbi Jansen, the orange women went on and over their opponent with 2 penalty corners.
After the break we finally saw a glimpse of Dutch dominance. The ruling European, Olympic and world champion claimed the ball, Spain dropped deeply.
That resulted in little big goal danger and made sure that the Spanish women were even allowed to break out a few times.
Again Yibbi Jansen – with her 6th penalty corner of this tournament – the Netherlands eventually freed in the last quarter.

The Dutch women tried to play the game in a controlled manner, the Spanish fire was burned down gently.
This way the Panthers know what awaits them, if and only if they can pass Germany Germany tonight.
