American Modern Opera Company to Perform “The Cello Player” at The Adams Theater
ADAMS,Mass.-Members of the American Modern Opera Company (AMOC) will present “The Cello Player” at The Adams Theater on September 19 at 7:30 p.m.
The performance, a new dance theatre work, features Coleman Itzkoff on cello, dancers Or Schraiber and Jeremy Coachman, and dramaturgy by bobbi Jene Smith. it’s a part of a fundraising evening, preceded by a dinner at the nearby Revival House, and followed by a Q&A session at the theater. Tickets range from $22.50 for local community members to $45 for priority seating, with a $150 option including dinner and the show.
“The Cello player” comes directly from its presentation at the Run AMOC Festival at Lincoln Center in New York City. The work is a duet that expands to a trio with Itzkoff’s contribution.
According to a press release, the performance explores the intricacies of long-standing relationships, examining the complex blend of love, hatred, insecurity, and neediness. Choreographer and dancer Schraiber explains,”This is a nebulous, dynamic relationship. They can be ancient friends, enemies, they can throw elbows at each other and simultaneously occurring embrace…all these things that nonverbal interaction can convey.”
AMOC, comprising 17 composers, choreographers, directors, vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers, writers, and producers, is renowned for its collaborative and collective approach.
The Adams Theater is also participating in Mass Cultural Council’s Card to culture programme, offering free admission to EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare cardholders.
