Weezer Celebrate 34 Years With Coloured Vinyl Box Set Release

Weezer is celebrating 34 years of music with a vibrant re-release of their iconic colored vinyl albums, offering fans a unique collectible experience. The limited-edition box set, dubbed the “Weezer Coloring Book Vinyl Box Set,” will include the band’s first six studio albums – ‘The Blue Album,’ ‘The Green Album,’ ‘The Red Album,’ ‘The White Album,’ ‘The Black Album,’ and ‘The Teal Album’ – all pressed on colored vinyl.

But the anniversary celebration doesn’t stop there. Weezer as well announced the upcoming release of ‘1192,’ a newly unearthed album featuring early demos and rarities from the band’s formative sessions in November 1992. This discovery offers a glimpse into the origins of the band’s signature sound and the tracks that ultimately helped them secure a record deal with Geffen Records in 1993.

The “Weezer Coloring Book Vinyl Box Set” isn’t just a listening experience. it’s an interactive one. The set comes complete with 72 original illustrations by Alec Longstreth and six colored markers, including a special “magic marker” designed to reveal hidden surprises on the album covers and vinyl jackets. A deluxe version, limited to just 100 copies, will also be available, including a Weezer backpack and a signed lithograph.

Fans can pre-order both the six-LP box set and the deluxe version now. The Weezer webstore will begin shipping orders on April 10 for US customers and June 26 for those in the EU and UK.

A Colorful Trip Down Memory Lane

The band shared the news on Instagram with a short animated video, highlighting the vibrant colors and playful nature of the box set. “To celebrate this momentous Weezerversary, we’re releasing all of the colored albums together for the first time ever,” the band wrote. “May we present to you, the Weezer Coloring Book Vinyl Box Set. Blue, Green, Red, White, Black, and Teal all together in one place. 6 LPs on colored vinyl, 72 original illustrations by Alec Longstreth, 6 color markers (including one magic marker. Leverage it on the cover & vinyl jackets to reveal hidden surprises!), and it’s even Karlification certified.”

Unearthed Demos Offer a Look at Weezer’s Roots

The upcoming album, ‘1192,’ promises a fascinating look back at Weezer’s early days. Founding bassist Matt Sharp discovered the “lost-album” master tapes while archiving the band’s history. The album will feature early demos of now-classic Weezer songs like “Say It Ain’t So” and “Undone (The Sweater Song).”

The demos have been remixed from tape to vinyl in a fully analogue process, with Sharp producing and Joe Chicarrelli handling the mixing. Only 3,000 copies of ‘1192’ will be available for purchase on Record Store Day 2026, offering a rare opportunity for fans to own a piece of Weezer history. A complete list of Record Store Day 2026 releases is available on the official Record Store Day website.

Rivers Cuomo Reflects on Weezer’s Early Days

This anniversary celebration comes after frontman Rivers Cuomo recently reflected on the creation of Weezer’s debut album, often referred to as ‘The Blue Album.’ In a 2024 interview, Cuomo described the close-knit environment that fostered the band’s early creativity. “The one thing that struck me was how physically close we all were,” he told NME. “There was a whole crowd of young men, packed into very slight apartments… constantly hanging out and talking, debating and discussing music and style.”

Cuomo also shared his initial confidence in the album’s success, stating, “When we released the ‘Blue’ album, I definitely felt like it was the greatest album of all time. I figured there was a chance I was wrong, but to me, it was my favourite album of all time and I assumed other people would experience the same way.”

Looking ahead, Weezer continues to explore their musical legacy while embracing new creative avenues. The release of ‘1192’ and the vibrant re-release of their colored vinyl albums demonstrate the band’s commitment to both honoring their past and engaging with their dedicated fanbase. Fans can anticipate further explorations of Weezer’s extensive catalog and potentially new music in the coming years.
