Auckland Heist: Gold & Silver Bullion Stolen | NZ News

A significant quantity of gold and silver bullion was stolen from a property in Auckland’s Swanson suburb between January 14 and January 27, prompting a police appeal for public assistance.

Police confirmed the burglary involved a “large quantity” of silver bullion, including 1kg silver bars, each imprinted with the inscription “MW,” identifying the manufacturer as Morris & Watson. A number of one-ounce (28.3g) gold Kiwi coins were also taken, according to Detective Shaun Galbraith of the Waitematā West Tactical Crime Unit.

“The combined value of the items is significant,” Galbraith said in a statement. “We are determined to locate those responsible and hold them to account but we necessitate the public’s help.”

Investigators are requesting information regarding any suspicious people or vehicles observed in the Swanson Road and Christian Road areas during the period of the burglary. Specifically, police are asking residents to report any unusual activity near rural driveways, gate areas, or properties bordering the Swanson rail corridor.

Authorities are also seeking information from anyone who may have been offered a large amount of silver or gold for sale under unusual circumstances. Police have requested that anyone with relevant information contact them via 105, either online or by phone, quoting reference number 260128/8576. Anonymous reports can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555.

The investigation remains ongoing and police have not disclosed the specific value of the stolen bullion.
