Coffee with a Cause: Homeownership & Financial Stability | Central Ohio

by James Carter Senior News Editor

Columbus, OH – A collaborative effort is underway to address the growing challenges of homeownership affordability in Central Ohio. The Columbus Young Professionals Club (CYP Club) will host “Coffee with a Cause” this month, focusing on “Creating Pathways to Homeownership So Families Flourish,” a program designed to equip individuals with the tools and knowledge needed to achieve sustainable homeownership.

The event, scheduled for a morning networking session, aims to tackle the increasing difficulty many young professionals and families face when attempting to build financial stability and prepare for the significant investment of buying a home. Organizers say the discussion will highlight research-backed strategies and actionable steps individuals can take to strengthen their financial foundations.

The program is a partnership between the CYP Club, Families Flourish, and KEMBA Financial Credit Union. Families Flourish, formerly known as Move to Prosper, utilizes a patented curriculum developed in collaboration with The Ohio State University. According to a recent LinkedIn post from KEMBA Financial Credit Union, graduates of the Families Flourish program have, on average, increased their incomes by 58% [KEMBA LinkedIn].

The “Coffee with a Cause” event will feature a moderated discussion and a Q&A session with panelists, who will share insights on mindset shifts and community-based solutions to support long-term economic mobility. While the specific panelists have not yet been announced, the event is open to all interested individuals, regardless of their current stage in the home-buying process.
