MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals women’s tennis team secured a decisive 6-1 victory over the University of Montana Grizzlies Saturday at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome, extending their undefeated record in Big Sky Conference play.
Idaho established early control by winning the doubles point. The newly paired duo of Chenyue Xu and Naomi Schraeder dominated on court one with a 6-1 win. Ida Johansson and Hanna Koprowska followed with a 6-3 victory, securing their ninth win as a pairing this season. The match on court three was left unfinished, with Montana leading 5-3.
The Vandals carried their momentum into singles play, winning five of the six matches. Schraeder battled through a three-set match on court two, dropping the first set 4-6 before rallying to win 6-3, 7-5. Koprowska and Johansson each secured straight-set victories on courts three and four, respectively. Koprowska won 7-5, 6-2, while Johansson prevailed 7-5, 7-6. Valentina Rodas and Soha Singh completed the Vandals’ dominance, winning their matches in straight sets as well.
Montana’s Kelsey Phillips was the lone Grizzly to secure a win, defeating Xu 6-2, 6-2 on court one.
Idaho will continue Big Sky Conference play on Sunday, March 15, hosting the Idaho State Bengals at 10 a.m. In the P1FCU Kibbie Dome.
