Florence, Italy – A new project aiming to revolutionize education through the integration of artificial intelligence and immersive technologies is set to launch this month. “PotentIA Edu,” developed by Exlea and Hevolus, promises to deliver interactive and personalized learning experiences, bringing the future of the classroom closer to reality. The platform will be previewed at Didacta Italy in Florence, March 11-13, at the Exlea stand (K58 – Lower Spadolini Pavilion).
The initiative arrives as schools increasingly explore digital tools to enhance learning. PotentIA Edu integrates Hevolus’s AI capabilities within Briedoo, Exlea’s multilingual immersive platform. This combination allows educators to create dynamic lessons while students engage with interactive content, intelligent avatars, and extended reality (XR) environments. The project is particularly timely, aligning with Italy’s national recovery and resilience plan focused on digitalizing schools.
Transforming Education with AI and Immersive Tech
At the heart of PotentIA Edu is the ability to transform traditional subjects into engaging, interactive experiences. Instead of simply reading about historical events, students can virtually explore ancient civilizations, enriched with multimedia tags – videos, images, and documents – designed to stimulate attention and improve comprehension. The platform isn’t just about delivering content; it’s about creating a dynamic learning environment.
Hevolus, recognized as one of twelve global partners selected by Meta for the education sector, has leveraged its expertise in generative AI and intelligent reality to create XR Copilot, powered by Microsoft AI Foundry. This assistant is configurable and governable by teachers, providing a powerful tool for lesson design and student support. According to Hevolus, the platform allows students to “dialogue with an avatar intelligente, multilingue e disponibile anche oltre l’orario scolastico” – an intelligent, multilingual avatar available even outside of school hours.
Governance and Collaboration in the Digital Classroom
PotentIA Edu prioritizes both educational integrity and teacher control. The platform provides educators with a dedicated control panel to monitor student experiences, administer assessments, and personalize learning paths. Crucially, the AI agent utilizes only pre-approved content, ensuring consistency with the curriculum and maintaining educational governance. The platform fosters collaboration, allowing both teachers and students to create and share content within a secure environment.
The project is being supported by Italy’s Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), with a total investment of €2.1 billion (approximately $2.27 billion USD as of March 15, 2026) allocated to schools. Of this, €1.7 billion (approximately $1.83 billion USD) has already been committed to transforming classrooms and creating mobile labs for future digital professions. Market analysis suggests Italian schools have already purchased over 100,000 VR headsets and hundreds of thousands of PCs and tablets, creating a fertile ground for the integration of immersive technologies like PotentIA Edu. Industria Italiana reports that the project aims to address the demand for a structured, governable ecosystem for integrating AI and immersive technologies into education.
The launch of PotentIA Edu comes as the education sector continues to grapple with the potential of AI. While concerns about responsible AI use remain, platforms like this demonstrate a commitment to integrating the technology in a way that empowers educators and enhances the learning experience.
Looking ahead, the success of PotentIA Edu will likely depend on its ability to seamlessly integrate into existing school systems and demonstrate measurable improvements in student engagement and learning outcomes. The Didacta Italy event will be a crucial opportunity to showcase the platform’s capabilities and gather feedback from educators.
