A teenager died Thursday at the end of the day in Chimay. Another youth stabbed him twice near the bus station. A suspect has been arrested. The prosecution gave details of the case on Friday morning.
The scene took place Thursday around 5:30 p.m.: two groups of young people are waiting at the Chimay bus station. Suddenly, a teenager attacks another and stabs him. The prosecution heard young people present and the manager of a cafe where the victim took refuge. “The young people were in two different groups. At some point, the suspect left the group, walked away and then returned five minutes later. There, when he returned, he allegedly walked directly towards the victim and stabbed him twice in the abdomen.“, indicates this Friday morning Sandrine Vairon, prosecutor of the King of division in Charleroi.
Injured, the 16-year-old victim then took refuge in a nearby cafe. As for the author, he flees. According to the prosecution, young people, witnesses of the scene, recognized the individual. “Police came to his home and arrested him.“, specifies the prosecutor. The suspect is 15 years old. He and the victim are from Chimay and Momignies.
The victim assaulted the suspect in early November
The prosecution clarified this Friday that the two young people knew each other and had already had a dispute. “It seems that there was a rather heated conflict between the two young people. On November 2, our suspect yesterday was violently assaulted by yesterday’s victim, and he broke his nose on this occasion“, explains Sandrine Vairon.
Given the circumstances, the prosecution decided to retain premeditation. “Given the dispute that had occurred three weeks earlier and the attitude of the suspect yesterday, the qualification of assassination was retained“, confides the prosecutor of the King.
According to Sandrine Vairon, the suspect is not known to justice for offenses. He is to be heard this Friday. “The suspect being a minor and 15 years old, he will be presented this afternoon before the judge of Youth in order to request a measure of placement within a PYPI“, concludes the prosecutor.
