A 19-year-old woman was arrested for trying to smuggle gold worth Rs 1 crore in Karipur

Malappuram: Police have seized gold worth Rs 1 crore, which was trying to be smuggled through Karipur airport. Shahla (19), a native of Kasaragod, was caught with the gold. Police seized 1884 grams of 24 carat gold outside the airport. He tried to smuggle the gold by hiding it in his clothes.

Shahla landed at Karipur from Dubai at 10.20 last night. After the customs check, we left the airport around 11 am. Shahla was taken into custody by the police on the basis of a tip-off received by the district police chief.

Despite being interrogated for hours, Shahla did not admit to having gold. Later, when the body was examined, the gold mixture hidden in the underwear was found. The police have decided to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident. The police are taking the fact that a 19-year-old woman has been caught seriously. The police say that the fact that the woman did not confess to the crime despite being interrogated for hours is an indication that a large group is working behind the gold smuggling.
