The Story of Suti Karno More Likes Ice Tea and Soda Ended His Leg Amputated

Jakarta

Suti Karno who plays Atun in the soap opera ‘Si Doel Anak Sekolahan’ has just had a leg amputation operation due to diabetes. His decision to amputate his leg was his own wish because his diabetes condition had worsened.

Telling the story on Rumpi Trans TV, Suti Karno said that his condition was triggered by his unhealthy lifestyle. He has always hated drinking water and prefers iced tea and soda to quench his thirst.

“I rarely drink water. I always drink sweet soda. I am 56 years old, as long as I drink sweet all the time. Filming is especially hot, isn’t it hot, drink sweet iced tea,” said Suti Karno.

He believes that his diabetes arose due to his lifestyle because the actor’s younger brother Rano Karno has no family history of diabetes.

“Actually, I’m not a hereditary factor. So the diabetes is due to my diet, my lifestyle when I’m young is extraordinarily ridiculous,” said Suti.

Beginning of leg amputation

Suti Karno said that her diabetes wound started on the two toes of her right foot. At that time he did not immediately visit the doctor to check his condition because of his busy schedule.

After consulting, the doctor suggested that two of his toes be amputated. But a week later his right leg started to turn black and numb.

“The blood vessels on the front of the leg are dead,” recalls Suti.

Diabetic wound care specialist Dr. Adisaputra Ramadhinara, MSc, CWSP, FACCWS, from Mandaya Puri Hospital said that people with diabetes do not feel pain when the wound is on any part of the body. They only realize when the symptoms are severe and their condition has worsened.

Diabetic foot wounds are wounds caused by infection or tissue damage to the feet of people with diabetes. This foot problem in diabetics occurs over time when high blood sugar damages the nerves and blood vessels in the feet.

“Often, those who have diabetes don’t realize that, so suddenly there is blood, wounds, and smell. That’s what takes a long time to heal,” said Dr. Adi when met by detik.com some time ago.
