A bust on display at the Chicago Field Museum, in the United States, dating back to prehistoric times in ancient Egypt, and estimated to be 3,000 years old, has baffled many people after they noticed the great similarity between it and the American King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
The statue, which depicts a woman, was made during the reign of King Remus or King Tut, two of the most famous pharaohs in ancient Egypt, but it is still shrouded in mystery because, unlike many Egyptian artifacts, it does not contain any hieroglyphs anywhere on its surface. This means that archaeologists have had great difficulty figuring out why the statue was carved in the first place, and it is believed that the statue was carved between 1050 and 1550 BC during the New Kingdom period, thousands of years before the King of Pop was born in 1958.
Fans of the American singer flocked to the museum, where the bust is displayed, to compare the resemblance to Michael Jackson and his ancient Egyptian counterpart, and a Redditor who visited the museum posted a comment in which he said: “I saw Michael Jackson in the Egyptian exhibition at the museum today.”
Some investigators believe that the damaged nose of the sculpture, carved from limestone, resembles the pop star’s upturned nose after plastic surgery.
The museum curator said: “95% of the complete statues and busts of Egypt were desecrated by the early Christians and Muslims because they were used in idol worship, and they viewed them as idols, and that smashing their noses made them non-human.”
