WhatsApp’s phone number authentication system is not without its limitations. This is why the Meta mail service has created a mail verification system.

Meta is de facto working on a new authentication system, complementary to the telephone number, which would require validating an action via its mailbox.
The function is currently being tested with a small panel of users.
According to the first information, it will be an optional way to connect to WhatsApp, and it will still be possible to use your phone number, as it was before. But it should still provide some respite for users worried about loss or theft.
It is unclear, however, when the new feature will be implemented. Still in beta, it may still take several months before it is deployed on the smartphones of all users.
