Health South Africa has declared a Johnson & Johnson booster dose 85% effective against Omicron.
And in the middle of last monthIn South Africa, Discovery, South Africa’s largest medical insurer, said getting two doses of Pfizer’s vaccine could provide up to 70% protection against the need for in-hospital care due to infection with the omicron variant.
The CEO of Discovery Health Ltd. said that the protection provided by the vaccine is provided to different practical groups, as well as those who have chronic diseases.
He added that the Pfizer vaccine is 33% effective against the Omicron mutant, according to a study that included 78,000 test cases for the Corona vaccine conducted from November 15 to December 7 in South Africa.
Researchers at the Africa Health Research Institute in Durban, South Africa, found that Omicron reduced virus-blocking antibodies 40-fold in people who received two doses of the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine, compared to the strain discovered in China nearly two years ago.
