A buyer was found for the Russian Volkswagen plant – Motor

Kommersant, citing its own sources, reports that AFK Sistema is currently negotiating the purchase of an assembly site for Volkswagen Group Rus in the Kaluga region. Sistema’s partner in restarting the plant will be Kazakhstan’s Allur, whose assets include SaryarkaAvtoProm and Agromashholding. At the same time, none of the parties has commented on the possible purchase of the enterprise.

Of greatest interest is Allur, regarding half of which is owned by the Chinese China National Machinery Import & Export Co., Ltd and Anhui Jiangqi Investment Co., Ltd. The latter is the legal entity of the JAC brand, which has a partnership with Volkswagen in China. According to one version, ties with the PRC will either allow the Kaluga plant to resume the assembly of previous models (we recall that Tiguan, Polo and Skoda Rapid were produced there until the spring of 2022), or to organize the production of “cars close to Volkswagen”.
