A clinic for long COVID and Lyme disease will be established in the region

HEALTH. The Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec region has been selected to deploy the pilot project for clinics specializing in long COVID and Lyme disease.

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, announced Thursday the establishment of these specialized clinics in the coming months. The three-year pilot project includes five referral centers and ten satellite clinics across the province. The mission will be to provide care, but also to help advance research.

For the moment, it is impossible to know where precisely in the region the clinic will be located and whether the two services (COVID and Lyme disease) will be offered.

“The government is just beginning to organize this project, so many details remain to be worked out. We will have more information to share later,” says Guillaume Cliche, information officer at the CIUSSS de la Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec.

“We know that the MRC of Drummond is an area identified as at significant risk for Lyme disease, so it remains to be seen if the clinic will be there,” he suggests.
