This company history begins with a bitter followingtaste. More than ten years ago, Daniel Duarte was sitting in what was then his flat share kitchen in Cologne and wished there was a coffee substitute. Because Duarte and his roommate and later business partner Heiko Butz didn’t like coffee at all. Nevertheless, the two former students did not want to do without caffeine in order to stay fit and alert while studying for the university.
