A few days ago, a plaque on the outside wall of the Catholic parish church in Hallstatt commemorated Prelate Johann Weidinger (1915-2013), who was a pastor in the World Heritage community for more than three decades. Weidinger was born in the St. Magdalena district of Linz and was ordained a priest in 1939. August 14, 1960 was his ceremonial installation as pastor of Hallstatt.
