Iraqi composer Namik Adeeb called on the local government in the Iraqi province of Basra to place two monuments to the late singer Fouad Salem and the late singer Waheeda Khalil in a public place in the center of the province for their great role in spreading Iraqi and visual songs.
Adeeb, who now resides in the British capital, London, said in an exclusive statement to Al-Khaleej: “Basra succeeded in organizing the Gulf 25 and was able to reunite the Gulf in a very impressive way. This success was written in the name of Iraq, because Basra is the frontier of Iraq.”
He added, “How happy I was when I saw the guests of Basra visiting the statue of the late poet Badr Shaker al-Sayyab and taking pictures with him.” A statue to the late singer Fouad Salem, who is considered one of the most important Iraqi singers and has a wide audience, as he has a great imprint in the history of the Iraqi song, and at the same time I demand that another statue be put up for the late singer Waheeda Khalil, who is also from Basra, because she is the mother of the southern Iraqi women’s song » .
It is worth noting that Adeeb has many works that left an important imprint on the Iraqi singing career, which he presented to Iraqi singers Yas Khader, the late Fouad Salem, Qahtan Al-Attar, Ali Mahmoud, the late Rabab and others.
