As journalist Paul Gasnier was regarding to start his duplex from Kramatorsk, a bomb exploded just behind him. He got off with a big scare.

It took little for “Daily” to lose three members of its team sent to cover the war in Ukraine. Indeed, Monday January 2, 2023, journalist Paul Gasnier, camerawoman Héloïse Grégoire and sound engineer Théo Palfray were on the ground, in Kramatorsk, when a large explosion sounded only a few meters behind them. They were then regarding to start their duplex in “Daily”.

“We don’t know if there were any casualties. What I can say is that we were the only ones outside, in the parking lot in front of our hotel. We had been there for an hour. We were ready for the duplex, ”detailed Paul Gasnier, a little later on the Yann Barthès show. The journalist affirmed that he did not know “exactly” where the bomb had exploded and that it had been “very noisy”: “We had dust in our eyes and mouths. Part of the hotel entrance collapsed on us, the windows were shattered. It was very confusing, we didn’t know exactly what had happened. We were very scared.” He then added that he was now safe. “We are fine. Our hands are still shaking a little. We are in a state of shock”, he declared, specifying that he and his team were sheltered within the premises “of a religious congregation”.
