The French Football League announced on Wednesday that its disciplinary committee suspended the Spanish defense magnate of Paris Saint-Germain, Sergio Ramos, for three matches, one of which was suspended.
The committee condemned the 36-year-old former veteran captain of Real Madrid for insulting referee Pierre Gayust in the match against the host Reims on Saturday in the tenth stage of the league when he was sent off in the 42nd minute for the 28th time in his professional career.
Ramos will miss the Clasico against Marseille on Sunday at the Parc des Princes, and the trip to Ajaccio on October 21.
The suspension of Ramos is a painful blow to Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier, who is deprived of the services of Presnel Kimpembe and Portuguese left back Nuno Mendes due to injury.
