Eric Zemmour was Sunday in Villepinte to hold his first political rally in the shoes of a presidential candidate. For the occasion, nearly 13,000 people came to the Parc des Expositions in the city of Seine-Saint-Denis on Sunday. In the room, there were supporters, who chanted “Zemmour president” repeatedly. But also opponents.

Activists from the “SOS Racisme” collective carried out an action that was intended to be “non-violent” in order to “say no to racism in a peaceful manner”, according to the association. At the start of Eric Zemmour’s speech, around ten activists from the association stood up at the back of the room in a row, with a yellow letter on each of their black jerseys, allowing them to display the message “No to the racism”. They were immediately taken violently to task by other participants in the rally, who hit them, or threw seats at them, as shown in a video broadcast by SOS Racism on Twitter, before being evacuated. At least two people were bleeding, an AFP journalist noted.

“Our activists were present at the Zemmour meeting in Villepinte to say no to racism in a peaceful manner. The video, of incredible violence, speaks for itself, our activists have been hit and insulted for recalling our anti-racist fight! ”Wrote the collective on Twitter. Five activists from SOS Racisme were injured in the crowd movement, two of whom were taken in by firefighters. “We wanted to do a non-violent action, I insist non-violent”, explained on the spot Aline Kremer of SOS-Racisme.
