A film based on the hijacking of a national airline, Flight 544 – Life & Style

The premiere of the documentary film Flight 544, based on a true story, was held at a local cinema in Karachi. The cast of the film and other stars participated on the red carpet.

The documentary film made by Rawa Documentary is based on the incident of May 25, 1998 when the plane with 33 passengers was hijacked.

Incidentally, on May 25, Pakistan International Airlines Flight 544 was hijacked shortly after take-off from Gwadar Airport.

Three armed men belonging to the Baloch Students Organization seized the plane, which was carrying 33 passengers and 5 crew members.

The hijackers initially demanded that the plane be flown to New Delhi, India. The plane eventually landed in Hyderabad, Pakistan, where a tense seven-hour standoff ensued, involving negotiations with authorities, requests for refueling, and the release of a crew member.

Eventually, Pakistan’s Special Service Group successfully stormed the plane, capturing all the hijackers, but there were no casualties during the incident.

On the occasion of the film premiere, director Syed Atif Ali said that we should tell the hidden story of our heroes.

He said that documentaries are made on real events all over the world, even a special section has been kept for it on the famous platform Netflix.

Atif Ali said that the world would have budgeted billions of rupees for the documentary, but we don’t have that much money, so we have to work intelligently.

The fans who came to see the film praised the efforts of the filmmaker and said that with such stories, our new generation will know what our heroes have done for the nation.

The film was shot in just 3 days while VFX effects were also used.
