A former Canadiens player claimed by the Islanders

Placed on waivers by the Florida Panthers, former Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Reilly was claimed by the New York Islanders on Saturday.

His adventure with Sunrise only lasted a few months. An unrestricted free agent during the last summer period following being bought by the Boston Bruins, the 30-year-old guard signed a contract worth $1 million over one season with the Florida club.

During his brief stint with the ‘Cats, Reilly did not collect a point in two games. He previously played three campaigns with Boston, between the 2020-2021 and 2022-2023 seasons.

In his career, the 98th overall pick in the 2011 draft collected 98 points in 341 games with the Panthers, Bruins, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota Wild.
