The young hockey player died as a result of an accident at a training session in the Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg on August 11. The puck hit him in the chest, stopping his heart.
According to the hockey club, at the training session of the SKA school team, during one of the exercises, after a defender clicked, the puck hit the player in the heart area.
“The team doctor immediately assisted the hockey player and called an ambulance, which carried out all resuscitation measures. They managed to start his heart, he was taken to the hospital, but the boy could not be saved, ”the club’s website says.
As a reader told Fontanka, the youth team trained at the Sports Palace on Zhdanovskaya 2 on the evening of August 11. According to those who watched the training, after the impact, the teenager fell, his breathing stopped, and the ambulance arrived twenty minutes later.
SKA expresses condolences to the family and friends of the athlete.
The deceased teenager was 14 years old. He started playing for SKA in 2015, played for Dynamo last season, and recently returned to his native club. He went out on the ice as an attacker.
The SKA said they would conduct an internal investigation. The boy’s family is promised to provide all necessary assistance.
