Sony now offers PlayStation players and PS Plus members the ability to purchase and stream Sony movies in high quality with the Sony Pictures Core app.
Sony wants to offer PlayStation players the best of films from its Sony Pictures Entertainment studio. The company has just announced that it is making its Sony Pictures Core service, formerly titled Bravia Core, available to PS5 and PS4 players. With hundreds of films to buy, rent or stream in optimal image quality.
A Sony VOD and SVOD service on your PlayStation
Already present on Sony Bravia bitrate can reach up to 80 Mb/s, well beyond services like Netflix, Prime or Apple TV+. Enough to enjoy a 4K HDR image without compression artifacts.
For this relaunch on PlayStation consoles, Sony Pictures Core promises a more or less recent catalog with titles like Spider-Man : Across the Spider-Verse, Uncharted, Bullet Train or And the Challenge. As this is video on demand and not SVoD, the films present may be made available on the platform a few months after their theatrical release. This is particularly the case for the film Gran Turismo which should arrive by the end of the year.
PS4 and PS5 players will be able to purchase Sony films in early access and exclusively on the Sony Pictures Core application. Better yet, PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe members will have access to a catalog of around a hundred films from the studio updated periodically. At launch, we will find films like Looper, Elysium, Resident Evil Damnation ou encore Kingsglaive : Final Fantasy XV.
