An atmosphere that the Algerians missed due to the Corona pandemic, as the last collective Iftar in this way was organized in 2019
On Friday, more than 2,500 people gathered around an iftar table in the center of Algiers that extended for more than a kilometer, in an atmosphere of joy, solidarity and spirituality of the holy month of Ramadan.
And from the central post square to Didouche Mourad Street, the table prepared by the Central Algiers municipality was spread with various Algerian dishes. Volunteers and cultural and sports associations participated in organizing the breakfast.
Several roads leading from the famous Didouche Murad Street in the city center to Maurice Audin Square to the Central Post Office have been closed since Friday afternoon, where breakfast was organized.

In front of the Central Post Square, acrobatic performances were organized for children, while 2,500 breakfast meals were prepared, about 1,600 of which were distributed to those present, and another 900 to passers-by, according to the organizers.
And with the Maghrib call to prayer, the fasting people broke their fast on dates and milk, in addition to “Al-Burak” and “Freek Soup”, which is the most famous soup in the country, and other local dishes such as “Al-Mtawam”, which is prepared with minced meat.

In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Khaled Amara, head of the “Youth Association for the Stars of Algeria,” said that this habit (collective breakfast) existed among parents and grandparents when families used to meet with each other.
He explained that the most important thing is to revive these customs, by “providing a suitable atmosphere for families in this place to revive customs and traditions that allow us to bond with each other.”
For her part, breakfast participant Dalila Mesbah stated, “The Corona pandemic has locked families in their homes for three years, during which going out and meeting with family and relatives was less.”
And she added, “After God lifted this disease, the opportunity came for families, loved ones, relatives and neighbors to gather in this collective iftar.”
