A lord of the castle invites you to a fireside chat

Clam Castle is expanding its range of visitor formats: In addition to the museum, overnight stays, weddings, celebrations and the internationally famous Clam concert summer, a completely new series of events will be added from May: fireside chats with Carl Philip Clam.

On three evenings initially, the lord of the castle opens the most magnificent room in the castle, the private ancestral hall, and invites a limited number of listeners to discuss with him and his guests. “In the course of my training and my work here at Burg Clam, I have made many contacts with interesting and clever people, whom I now invite to conversations that I have wanted to have with them for a long time,” says Carl Philip Clam. He also wanted to use the fireside chats to give a small group of visitors access to rooms that would otherwise only be used by the family.

Carl Philip Clam himself will open the series with an evening on a topic that is of personal concern to him: faith and religion. Under the motto “The Ten Catholic Misunderstandings”, Clam will exchange ideas with the audience about the meaning of life and why it is better not to be religious as a Christian. The question of why quite a few Catholics believe that their church will break up again is also addressed. In keeping with the theme, Clam is hosting this evening in the newly renovated castle chapel on the fourth floor of the castle.

It will be royal at the second fireside chat on June 4th. Archduke Bernhard of Austria from the House of Habsburg-Lorraine, a direct descendant of Emperor Franz Joseph and a long-time resident of South America, talks to Carl Philip Clam about what it means to be “noble” and whether he sees his last name as a blessing or a curse feels.

Security policy is the focus of the third fireside chat on June 22nd. With Brigadier Philipp Ségur-Cabanac, commander of the Federal Army’s fighter command, one of the highest-ranking Austrian military experts will shed light on the two military conflicts that are currently occupying Europe and what the situation is like for Austria’s security. The question is asked why there is hardly any discussion about the risk of a blackout in Austria anymore.
