A man’s hand sliced in half by a sword at a convenience store

A man, whose left hand was cut in half by a sword, was attacked at a convenience store on Friday in Hawaii in the United States.

Around midnight Friday, a 40-year-old man was found in critical condition at the entrance to the parking lot of a 7-eleven in Waikiki. He was taken to hospital.

“The victim started screaming and crying. When I looked at him, I saw that half of his hand was on the ground,” said Michael Suissa, a Swiss tourist who witnessed the attack.

According to Mr. Suissa, the person holding the sword was an employee of the convenience store with whom he had interacted in the past few days. However, police have yet to confirm whether the individual was indeed a 7-eleven staff member, the Honolulu TV Station reported.

According to a clerk contacted by the police, no one was working when the man was attacked.

An investigation has been opened.
