A mask has been developed in China that detects and alerts you if you have been exposed to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and flu virus.

According to Bloomberg News on the 20th (local time), a research team at Tongji University in Shanghai developed a mask that detects Corona 19, flu virus, and H5N1, an avian influenza (AI) virus, in the air within 10 minutes with a built-in sensor and sounds an alarm. The results of the study on this mask were published in the scientific journal ‘Matter’.

The sensor is a rechargeable lithium battery mounted on the outside of the mask.

As a result of the simulation, the sensor sensitively caught even a small amount of droplets spread through sneezing and triggered an alarm on wireless devices such as cell phones.

The research team explained that the mask would be well used in confined spaces where there is a high risk of virus infection.

In addition, he said that he will continue research so that it can detect other viruses well.

It also explained that work is continuing to increase the detection time and sensitivity of virus exposure. The specific cost of the mask has not been announced.

Although several countries are currently easing their mandatory masks, many people are still wearing them in their daily life.
