DISTINCTION. A native of the Saint-Georges-de-Champlain sector, researcher Yannick Benoit was awarded the “Mayor’s Mention” during the last meeting of the Shawinigan municipal council, on October 3.

These mentions, remember, are given to citizens who, through their actions, contribute to the influence of the City of Shawinigan.

Here is the presentation text for this distinction: “It is with pleasure that the council awards a mayor’s mention in the Nomination and recognition category to Mr. Yannick Benoît, because he is one of the most promising Canadian researchers of his generation.

Originally from Saint-Georges-de-Champlain, Mr. Benoît has been an assistant professor and director of research in biomedical sciences at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa since 2017. His work consists of developing innovative treatments to treat cancer of the colon.
