A new airline linking Saudi Arabia to Africa

Saudi Arabia – Informed sources reported that a new Saudi airline will soon be launched in Riyadh by an investor linking Saudi Arabia with the continent of Africa, with the aim of supporting tourism and investment aspects.

According to the sources, the investor has completed obtaining regulatory approvals from both the local sides and the African Civil Aviation Union, and is awaiting the announcement of details regarding the date of launching and operating the company, and its routes, in the coming period.

The sources, who participated in a meeting held in Riyadh during the past months, confirmed that the great desire of African countries to expand economic and tourism relations with Saudi Arabia was the main support in establishing the new airline, which will specialize in air routes between Saudi Arabia and the African continent only.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia announced in March 2023 the establishment of the Public Investment Fund for “Riyadh Air”, the new Saudi air carrier, to contribute to the development of the air transport sector and to enhance the Kingdom’s strategic position that connects three of the most important continents of the world, Asia, Africa and Europe.

Saudi Arabia recorded a jump in the number of tourists coming to it from abroad during 2023, as their number reached about 27 million tourists, who spent more than 100 billion riyals, while the number of domestic tourists reached 77 million.
