ROODT-SUR-SYRE – Cactus is strengthening its presence in eastern Luxembourg in the municipality of Betzdorf. Several hundred people noted the inauguration party with their presence on Tuesday evening.
From the memory of specialists familiar with this type of event, we had never seen that! The inauguration of the last Cactus in Rood-sur-Syre brought together, on Tuesday evening, very beautiful people.
“I am very happy with the people present at this inauguration,” says Laurent Schonckert, administrator-director of Cactus SA. “We always have people, but this is exceptional. I had not seen such an audience for quite a number of years. We feel that people want to go out during this post-Covid period. We also feel that the municipal elections are on the horizon. Many suppliers are there and have followed us. Friends from home are there. I was told that around 650 people were there”.
“Dynamic the life of citizens”
And the boss of Cactus to underline the importance of being present at this specific place in the Grand Duchy. “We have been researching in the east of the country for almost 30 years where we had no presence,” admits Laurent Schonckert. “The region has developed very well from a demographic point of view. 10 minutes away by car, there are still 20,000 customers. It must also be said that the competitive pressure is not the same, and here, we are not stepping on our own feet. On an area of 3,000 m2, we try to make our know-how as widely known as possible. 70 people will work in this new Cactus and it will be a mix between experienced staff and another half of neophytes”.
For the mayor of Betzdorf, Jean-Francois Wirtz, the inauguration of a Cactus in his town is “a real added value” and “it will be complementary with the smallest businesses”. “Competition will energize the lives of citizens,” he adds. “Cactus is in the DNA of Luxembourgers. There is a long tradition synonymous with perseverance and durability. This inauguration is the culmination of all our efforts. I was really surprised to see so many people during this inauguration”.
