Samsung has registered a patent for a new foldable phone design, but this time with a completely different concept from the company’s foldable phones currently available in the market.
Samsung has been paying attention to the new foldable phone market in recent years, and it already has phones with this feature, but with two designs; Can be folded horizontally or vertically.
According to information published by Letsgodigital, Samsung recently filed a patent for a new phone design, which is expected to come in the Z series of foldable phones from the company.
The company’s designers implemented the patent, which showed a new concept for Samsung’s foldable phones, where the rectangular screen is the length of the phone, but with the addition of the phone’s shape when unfolded, it gives an L-shape, which is an unusual design.
The patent for the phone includes a foldable screen that opens sideways, and this part of the screen wraps towards the back of the device when it is in the closed position.
Looking at the images presented for the patent, the idea can be considered somewhat close to the LG Wing phone, which was launched in 2020, which was a phone with two screens, one in the front, which is the largest and the second smaller, that was being marketed at the time as a versatile phone.
What differs in the Samsung model is that the wide part works through a foldable OLED screen, not in a sliding and rotating way as in the LG model.
The rest of the specifications that the phone model displays, besides the screen, the design shows the wrapping of the screen to the back and next to it is the rear camera in a vertical form and below it the LED flash.
The foldable screen, located in the upper half of the phone, has a small hole for the selfie camera in the front, of course.
What is still being circulated is a patent model only, but this does not necessarily mean that the idea will be implemented and a phone will arrive in this way, and it is not excluded that the model will already be applied in a new phone in the era of foldable screens, especially from Samsung, the pioneer in this field.
In the event that Samsung intends to implement the model already, there are no known dates yet, but in this case there will be more leaks in the coming period.
