Energy demand is rising sharply in Quebec and elsewhere. One of Hydro-Quebec’s solutions for increasing supply is to assess the remaining hydroelectric potential in Quebec. In other words, is a new dam needed?

“At the moment, studies are being done. In our strategic plan, we want to assess the sites that present the best potential for hydroelectric capacity. We do this with local and indigenous communities. It is a potential analysis that we are doing at the moment, in several places in Quebec, ”explains Caroline Des Rosiers.
The final decision will be “collective” and not political, assures the spokesperson. “We all have to ask ourselves how we want to meet our growing energy needs. We, at Hydro-Québec, our job will be to do the analysis, to see what is possible and all the options.
