The province of Neuquén created an emergency device to attend emergencies related to mental health and problematic consumption. The PsicoSIEN team joined the Neuquén Integrated Emergency System (SIEN) and seeks to provide specialized care through the same line, 107.
Situations will be addressed by the Community Mental Health team with access to psychosocial consultations. The procedures can be requested by anyone, through the toll-free number of Medical Emergencies 107.
From the Ministry of Health it was highlighted that the new service adds health relevance to the provincial system and constitutes a further step “Towards the accessibility and care of the mental health of Neuquinos”.
Psychosocial consultations are mostly situations of gender, family and social violence. Traumatic events related to other incidents and problematic substance use. self harmPanic attacks and suicide attempts are other scenarios that the new team will have to face.
PsicoSIEN will provide assistance to urgencies and emergencies that require presence, where there is an imminent risk to people and the situation is violent. But in addition, telegonic accompaniment will be given, with assistance and professional advice in cases of less risk. In the latter case, the focus is on preventing the situation from becoming more complex.
Another function of the new team, is to offer attention and support to the workers of the SIEN itself, who are often exposed to traumatic and destabilizing situations.
