A Pakistani documentary film about bomb defusers has won a foreign award

Pakistani filmmaker Asad Farooqui’s documentary “Armed with Faith” has been awarded an Emmy Award for being an exceptional documentary film about politics and government.

The documentary tells the story of a bomb disposal squad in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, depicting the dangerous professional life of three members of the squad who save lives despite the lack of modern equipment. They put their lives on the line.

Squad members Abdul Rahim and Tiger Bhai spend all day inside the police station engaged in this dangerous work for very inadequate wages and feel proud that they have done something for their country.

The film’s assistant filmmaker and two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker and director Sherman Obaid Chinoy congratulated producer Asad Farooqui on Facebook, saying that Asad Farooqui had come to work with him many years ago when he was working on Citizen’s Archive of Was working as a photographer in Pakistan. He had great passion and dedication to learning and proved to be an excellent student.

Sherman Obeid said that the two have since done many projects together and have now won an Emmy Award as a director.
