A perfect day for the Gunners

The last day of the year smiled on Arsenal. Victorious 4-2 at Brighton, the Gunners took the lead in the Premier League.

Thanks to this success, Granit Xhaka and his teammates now have a margin that can be described as comfortable on Manchester City, held in check earlier in the day at home by Everton (1-1). The difference amounts, in fact, to seven points. Even if the finish line is still a long way off – there are 22 games left to play – it is not surprising to consider that Arsenal have indeed taken a first option on the title.

In Brighton, the leader struck from the start with the opener of Bukayo Saka in the 2nd minute. After such a start, the Gunners played on velvet. They scored three more goals by captain Martin Odegaard, by Edward Nketiah and by the sparkling Gabriel Martinelli.

Despite Erling Haaland’s 21st goal, Manchester City dropped two points ahead of Everton. The man of the match was Demarai Gray, author of a superb equalizer in the 64th minute. The way the former Leicester striker abused Manuel Akanji was simply magnificent.
