A Quebec woman who died in Morocco following surgery

Florence McConnell, a 26-year-old Quebecer, died in Morocco due to medical complications following surgery.

The Quebec coroner’s office confirmed to TVA Nouvelles that an investigation had been opened to shed light on the cause and circumstances of the young woman’s death.

The death of Florence McConnell has shaken her loved ones. Several of them expressed their sadness on social networks.

“An extremely rare medical complication, following an apparently benign surgery, had to occur and take your life… Tear you away from us, without notice! This is definitely a tragedy,” wrote her father, Brian McConnell.

“There is no other word that can describe this situation. The pain of this appalling news has been overwhelming and cannot be appeased,” he added.

A funeral ceremony will be held on June 11 in Longueuil.
