A report concludes that the MAT branch in Riudarenes is not necessary and proposes to feed the AVE from La Farga

A report commissioned by Council of Local Initiatives for the Environment (CILMA) i la Girona Provincial Council concludes that the branch of the MAT a Riudarenes which he proposes to do Electric Network (REE) it’s not necessary. The study explains that feeding theAVE –One of the reasons for building the line- can be done through the substation of the Farga (Come in Sant Julià de Ramis i Cervià), which would also be buried, as it would only extend three kilometers. This would prevent the construction of a new nineteen-kilometer airline as recommended by theStatewhich still keeps it within the investment plan until 2026. In addition, the report details that there are also alternatives to be able to supply the Costa Brava Southwithout the need to build the very high voltage line.

The studio, in charge of the office Most Engineers, points out that during its drafting “the necessary information has not been available regarding the electricity demand in the area in order to be able to propose a valid alternative”. In this sense, he points out that this data is managed by E-Distribution which must be in charge of analyzing “the most convenient solution”. However, the study highlights the need for growth in the electricity distribution network in the coming years in order to integrate and manage the territory’s demand and the production of renewable energy, which, he says, “is it will have to make sure that it is installed as locally as possible, taking into account the points of consumption ”.

In relation to the substation that has been built in Riudarenes and that currently does not have any power supply, the report proposes to dismantle it and move it to La Farga, as it will be from this point where it will be given feeding on the AVE. “The new La Farga substation is so close to the route of the TAV which would even allow it to be powered without even lifting a new 400 or 200 kV line, because the TAV’s traction transformers could be connected directly to the 400 kV bars, ”the report states.

The state maintains the planning

For its part, the State maintains the MAT branch and the 400 kV substation of Riudarenes (Selva) in the energy planning proposal for the period 2021-2026. Remember that the project to make an air line that crosses the Guilleries already has an environmental impact statement (DAY) and points out that, after studying alternatives to the distribution network, “no viable ones have been detected”.

Study alternatives

From Red Eléctrica (REE) they have already explained that they would study alternatives to the MAT air line in Riudarenes (Selva), but they made it clear that a line must be made in the territory. Specifically, from REE three routes were proposed. Two of them would leave from the substation of the 400 kV a Bescanó (Selva) and from here they would connect with the one of Riudarenes. One of them is closer to the airport Gironaa Vilobí d’Onyar (Jungle) and follow the corridor of theAP-7; the other would deviate further and pass through the interior. The third alternative is for food to come from the north, from Sant Celoni (Vallès Oriental).
