A fire broke out on Sunday evening in the family gardens of Avully, on Chemin du Chalet-du-Bac, in the Geneva countryside. A small wooden construction four by four meters had caught fire there, generating large flames. The Fire and Rescue Service (SIS) received a first alert at 10:55 p.m., quickly followed by seven other calls. Not knowing precisely what was burning and in order to prepare for any eventuality, the firefighters sent twenty men and six vehicles, including an ambulance, to the scene in two waves. Leaving from the Bains and Asters barracks, they arrived on site sixteen minutes later. Ten volunteer firefighters from Avully were already hard at work. A total of three spears were engaged. At 11:41 p.m., the incident was extinguished.

“The fire, which caused no injuries, did not spread, reports Lieutenant Nicolas Millot, in charge of SIS communication. We have sent reinforcements as a precaution. Indeed, attacking a garden shed may seem innocuous but is not so much: it may contain flammable products such as gas cylinders. Here, the fire fortunately turned out to be quite “ordinary”.
