A slight earthquake felt in Vendée Wednesday January 31 in the evening

A slight earthquake was felt in Vendée this Wednesday January 31 just before 11 p.m. This is a magnitude 3 earthquake, according to initial measurements from BCSF-Rénass, the French Central and Seismological Bureau.

The epicenter of the earthquake felt in the evening on Wednesday evening was located in Maillé, in southern Vendée.

This earthquake is magnitude 3 on the Richter scale.

BCSF-Renass confirms that the earth shook slightly on Wednesday evening.

On June 16, 2023, an earthquake, whose epicenter was located in Charente-Maritime, was felt in Pays de la Loire. The next day, a strong aftershock of magnitude 5 was also recorded. Four municipalities in Vendée, affected by these earthquakes, had been recognized as being in a state of natural disaster.

In February 2023, a slight earthquake, 3.2 on the Richter scale, was felt notably in La Châtaigneraie, in Vendée. Its epicenter was located in Deux-Sèvres.

In November 2021, the Pays de Retz, in Loire-Atlantique, was shaken by an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.8 to 3.4.

A small earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale was felt in Vendée in August 2021. Its epicenter was located to the south-east of Les Herbiers.

In August 2020, an unusual magnitude in Pays de la Loire of 4.8 had already shaken La Châtaigneraie.
