This is a first: a solar reactor capable of converting, via a simultaneous process, two types of waste, plastic and CO2. Still at the experimental stage, the device, developed by Cambridge researchers, notably made it possible to convert CO2 into synthetic gas, an essential component of sustainable liquid fuels, while plastic bottles could be transformed into glycolic acid, used massively in the cosmetics industry.
